In the new works created for the “Gorshkov2” exhibition, Sergei Gorshkov and Ivan Gorshkov reinterpret each other’s works. These works — as the younger Gorshkov puts it, “like their own, but better” — are inspired by another authorial method: “find and improve.” It lies in the transformative power of art, through which imperfect things we encounter daily undergo a striking metamorphosis and become what they should be — flawlessly perfect.
... if you add another Gorshkov to Gorshkov, you won’t get two Gorshkovs, but a Gorshkov squared, because the degree of their joint artistic effort and the impossibility, the unthinkability of its tangible results grow exponentially, reach the upper extreme, and, overcoming it, rush into infinity — to where the “crystal of the purest crease” glows with a magical and intricate light.
