"Playing the Classics" series

In his research, Ivan Govorkov came to the conclusion that the most common plastic model of all 20th century art is the "one-sided surface" or "Mobius strip". In addition, he is sure that many brilliant works of art of the past are intuitively built plastically and compositionally according to this sign. But that's not all.

The artist is convinced that everything around: the anatomy of living beings, the currents of the world's oceans, the structure of "space - time", and everything, existing in "non-existence", has the form of a one-sided surface of the "Mobius strip".

In the series of works "Mobius +" the artists present part of the project of illustrations to these thoughts. These are photo collages under the general name "Mobius + classics", where they simply and clearly connect their favorite sign of the Mobius strip with classical paintings.

Ivan Govorkov offers his model of creating a painting: not through experience and "living through", as most artists do and did, and in which he himself succeeded in his early works, but as a kind of "ladder" to achieve harmony with oneself. A completely eastern tradition, deeply revered by the artist. The painting itself, as a result of such activity, is not the only desired result in this case.

In the end, if all this "philosophy" seems too burdensome, then the authors hope that the viewer will be able to simply enjoy traditional art.
