Описание

A series of collages by Ian Ginsburg is based on documents from the 70s from the archive of Eduard Limonov (1943-2020), a writer and politician. Limonov came from Kharkov to Moscow in 1967 and made money by tailoring fashionable trousers. For him, joining the Moscow bohemia took place through fitting at home, patterns and threads, mutual favors.
Ginsburg uses Limonov's patterns of that time and parts of books, newspapers, everyday life, biographically or psychedelically connected with one or another customer. As before, when he turned to the figures of the Soviet underground, Ginsburg creates layers of visual elements of Soviet reality around them, forming surreal compositions. In this project, Limonov's autobiographical texts help him in this: The Book of the Dead (2001), My Painters (2018).
