The artist in his works creates a mythologized space - the space of words, a communication system. “Everything speaks,” wrote Jacques Rancière in “The Aesthetic Unconscious.” The works of Motolyants also speak. His writing is like a silent and at the same time chatty speech - the result of the artist’s journey through the labyrinths and passages of the surrounding world. He, like a collector, a flâneur, “collects traces of his experiences and rewrites the hieroglyphs depicted by the very configuration of dark and ordinary things. He returns to the insignificant details of the world’s prose their double, poetic and symbolic power.” Banal subjects: a girl on the subway, a tram, a view from a window - are mythologized through the text and thereby reveal what is hidden.
