Описание

One of the most significant painters of the Leningrad (St. Petersburg) "underground", Gleb Bogomolov is still at the center of artistic life. Thanks to his uniqueness, philosophical nature, special coloristic sorcery, behind which is the most subtle professional culture, his art is independent of changing tastes and fashion.

His paintings combine passéism and the ability to create his own, quite modern pictorial world. "We depend on everything that was and is" - these words of the master accurately characterize not only his worldview, but also his creative practice. His paintings are rarely figurative, but they show subtle associative connections with the material world, which exists more in memory than in reality.

In the very depths of his art there is a reminiscence of the mosaics of Ravenna, the frescoes of medieval Rus', the Tuscan Renaissance, but this is nothing more than a distant echo. The pain of existence and the enduring significance of art live in its gloomy inflorescences, giving birth to a sense of tragedy, retreating before the magical attraction of his painting.
