The art of Valeria Matveyeva-Nibiru is distinguished by its sophistication and bloodthirstiness. On the artist's website, visitors are greeted by her favorite heroine - a magical little girl, a ghostly web woven from white lines on a coal background, who is attracted to a monster of the Mariana depths of the unconscious, an electric crab-ray-octopus, with claws and tentacles. However, as in real nature, there is nothing stronger than a web, including fairy-tale girls created from the web of a linear drawing.

In their subsequent incarnations, Valeria Matveyeva's gothic Thumbelinas embark on alien journeys, expel myriads of amazing living creatures from themselves, and sometimes renew their living space by arranging mass executions of fantastic animals or their everyday substitutes - soft toys. Valeria Matveeva, known for her staged photographs and videos, began drawing and painting quite recently, and the fantasy country that emerged in her studio in less than a year cannot fail to amaze with the originality and diversity of its landscape and population.

The strength of the web is explained by its purpose - it is a weightless spatial structure, an artificial screen on which desire in its most merciless form must inexorably materialize. Merciless beauty.
