A series of graphics, paintings and objects are made using the author's method of "find and improve": the artist combines prints, oil paints, stickers, creating a multi-layered tautological collage. Inside, digital collages - "photo-toads" - appear as separate elements.
The name of the project refers us to the fable "The Dragonfly and the Ant", but it is changed beyond recognition. As if we begin with a story about a certain grasshopper and an ant, but then the subject of the conversation is so transformed that we lose the thread of the narrative.
The artist uses the "photo-toad" as a special painting technique - he introduces it into the traditional painter's toolkit along with the line and the spot. Here it plays the role of a brushstroke, only especially "charged". The inclusion of "photo-toads" and Internet pictures in painting is an attempt to force "jokes" to engage in serious work, so to speak, to harness "jokes" to the chariot of serious painting."
