"I'm reinterpreting an artistic gesture made seven years ago. In the new conditions, it is framed as something more integral and complete — as an artistic commodity, if you will."

Ginzburg's method was far from a direct repetition of the works of other authors in the spirit of the appropriation of the 1980s and was based on multilevel work with the image and the social and life circumstances that gave rise to it. "My task," the artist explains, "was to create an authentic work of art of a new type based on research and archival materials. For me, this exhibition was a study, and in some ways, an investigation."

Often the heroes of Ginzburg's work are hidden, forgotten artists. At the same time, giant artists act as antagonists, for example, as Ilya Kabakov in the project "Mechanical Beetle" (2017). Hinting at some kind of injustice in the balance of power, the artist talks about the underground, which lives a separate life, outside of institutional processes. In
this case, the same names rotate: Eric Bulatov, Ilya Kabakov, Viktor Pivovarov.
