Peter Belyi, who usually works as an installer, switched to quite traditional materials and formats. This return to the classics can partly be described as the state of shock in which the artist finds himself, having lost his point of support. In an attempt to find it, he grasps, like a drowning man in an infinitely viscous space, the lifeline of classical art. Was the escape from reality successful? The viewer refuses to see mystical sunsets in the huge black-and-white monotypes. The tearing in the soul of the author and the tearing in the soul of the viewer takes place under the soothing murmur and drops – trickles of water break through from under the brutal concrete blocks with twisted fittings. Nothing can be fixed here, and no spring and no romantic look will help to come to the surface.
